ByFlow by Bywatts

Draft for legal review. The product team wrote this page as a placeholder for the owner's lawyer. It is not legal advice and it is not yet in force. It describes what the site does today, and each statement must be checked before launch.

Privacy notice (draft)

This notice covers the ByFlow website and the public demo at /demo, published by Bywatts. The team app is a separate service, covered in its own section below.

What the site collects

The pages do not set cookies, load analytics or advertising scripts, or ask you for personal information. Cloudflare hosts the site. It handles each request and processes standard connection data, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver and protect the site. Bywatts adds no tracking of its own on top of that.

Analytics are not enabled today. This notice must be updated before any are turned on.

Stored in your browser

  • Your theme choice (system, light or dark) is saved in local storage under the key byflow.theme. The site and the demo share it.
  • The demo saves your game, your settings and cached copies of public data responses in local storage, under keys that begin with byflow. or sf.. This stays on your device and is never sent to Bywatts.
  • You can remove it from the demo's settings or from your browser's site data controls.

Third parties your browser contacts

Some requests go straight from your browser to other organizations. They see your IP address and the request itself, and their own policies apply.

  • Every page: Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com) serves the Space Grotesk and IBM Plex typefaces.
  • The demo: jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net) serves the three.js library. The public data services listed under data sources and credits are called directly from your browser. They receive game locations, such as the 50 state locations used for weather, and any address text you type into the game's address search. The demo never asks for your device location.

The app

The app at https://app.bywatts.pro is an invite-only service behind sign-in. For each person who signs in it records a name, an email address and a role, plus the project and schedule data that person enters and an activity log of changes. Sign-in is handled by Cloudflare Access.

Retention periods, deletion requests, processor terms and where data is stored are not yet written. The owner must complete this section before inviting people from outside the company.

Data sources and credits

The demo uses the public data below. In the game, figures from live feeds carry a LIVE chip, baked-in snapshots carry SNAP, and simulated values carry SIM. Providers are named only to credit them. None of them endorses ByFlow.

Live feeds, fetched while you play

  • Open-Meteo

Weather forecasts. Weather data by Open-Meteo.com, CC BY 4.0. Open-Meteo offers its free service for non-commercial use, and commercial use needs a paid plan. The demo calls the free service without a key. The owner must confirm that this public demo fits those terms, or switch to a paid key, before promoting the site commercially.

Snapshots baked into the demo

These are copied into the game ahead of time and do not update while you play: state population, codes and outlines from the U.S. Census Bureau; solar resource and climate norms from NASA POWER; electricity rates from the U.S. Energy Information Administration through WattFigure; wages from the Bureau of Labor Statistics OEWS through PayCrunch; state holiday calendars from the-calendar.net; hail exposure from NOAA NCEI through Hail History; and snowfall and rainfall normals from WeatherTotals. The demo's data sources screen lists the exact license line for each.

Libraries, fonts and product data

  • three.js

The 3D renderer, loaded from jsDelivr. MIT license.

  • Space Grotesk and IBM Plex

Typefaces, loaded from Google Fonts. SIL Open Font License 1.1.

  • Interoperability Data Models (IDM)

The demo's equipment catalog follows the IDM product schemas, maintained in a repository by Sunhub and based on EMerge Alliance schemas. Twelve reference products come from that repository unchanged. Every other product in the demo is a fictional sample. ByFlow reads the schemas and does not change them.

IDM license to confirm. The repository README states the MIT License, while the schema files carry the notice "(c) EMerge Alliance 2025, Licensed CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 -All Rights Reserved". These do not agree. The owner must confirm which terms apply before commercial use.
